Walgreens Payday Schedule 2026: Pay Dates, Pay Periods and Holiday Changes

Walgreens pays most of its U.S. hourly team members every two weeks, and payday usually lands on a Friday. That adds up to 26 paychecks in 2026, and some workers get a third check in two different months.

Walgreens doesn’t publish a public payroll calendar, so the dates on this page are projected from that biweekly Friday pattern. Your own pay stub in People Central is the final word, and we’ll show you where to find it.

Does Walgreens pay weekly or biweekly?

Walgreens pays biweekly. Store team members, shift leads, beauty consultants and pharmacy technicians are paid every other week, not every week. Most employee reports online describe the same 14-day cycle.

You’ll still see people searching for a Walgreens pay schedule 2026 weekly version, mostly because of old Reddit threads. We couldn’t find any sign that Walgreens store staff moved to weekly pay. If someone on your team says they get paid weekly, ask whether they work for a staffing agency, since agencies run their own payroll.

Biweekly pay is easy to budget once you see the math. A full-time worker who logs 40 hours a week gets 80 hours on each check. At $17 an hour, that’s $1,360 gross per paycheck before taxes, benefits and other deductions come out.

How many paychecks will you get in 2026?

Most Walgreens workers will get 26 paychecks in 2026. The year has 52 Fridays, from January 2 to December 25, and each pay group gets every other one. So both groups land on exactly 26 Friday paydays.

There’s one wrinkle we think is worth flagging. Group A’s first payday of 2027 falls on Friday, January 1, which is a bank holiday. If Walgreens sends that deposit a day early, on Thursday, December 31, Group A workers would see 27 deposits in calendar year 2026.

That extra check would most likely show up on your 2026 W-2, because wages count in the year you receive them. We can’t confirm how Walgreens will handle it. Check People Central in mid-December for the actual date.

What day does Walgreens pay its employees?

Walgreens payday is usually Friday. Most worker reports say paychecks arrive on Fridays. Your store manager can confirm your exact day if you’re new and haven’t had a check yet.

Some workers on Reddit say their money shows up Thursday night. That’s almost always the bank, not Walgreens. Payroll sends the deposit file a day or two ahead, and some banks release the funds as soon as the file arrives.

What time does Walgreens direct deposit hit?

We couldn’t find a set time that Walgreens direct deposits post. For most big banks, a Friday deposit shows up between midnight and about 6 a.m. local time on payday. Smaller banks and credit unions can take until mid-morning.

Online banks are a different story. Accounts like Chime often post a payroll deposit up to two days early, so a Friday check can show up on Wednesday. Our Chime direct deposit schedule explains how that early posting works.

If the money isn’t there by noon on Friday, don’t panic yet. Look at the section on late paychecks further down before you call anyone.

Walgreens pay dates 2026: full calendar

Walgreens workers are reportedly split into two pay groups that get paid on alternating Fridays. We call them Group A and Group B below. The table lists every projected 2026 payday for both groups, month by month.

Month Group A paydays Group B paydays
January Jan 2, Jan 16, Jan 30 Jan 9, Jan 23
February Feb 13, Feb 27 Feb 6, Feb 20
March Mar 13, Mar 27 Mar 6, Mar 20
April Apr 10, Apr 24 Apr 3, Apr 17
May May 8, May 22 May 1, May 15, May 29
June Jun 5, Jun 19 (Juneteenth) Jun 12, Jun 26
July Jul 3, Jul 17, Jul 31 Jul 10, Jul 24
August Aug 14, Aug 28 Aug 7, Aug 21
September Sep 11, Sep 25 Sep 4, Sep 18
October Oct 9, Oct 23 Oct 2, Oct 16, Oct 30
November Nov 6, Nov 20 Nov 13, Nov 27
December Dec 4, Dec 18 Dec 11, Dec 25 (Christmas)

These are projections built from the biweekly Friday pattern. Walgreens hasn’t released an official 2026 payroll calendar to the public, so treat the table as a planning tool and confirm with your stub.

Here’s what’s left for the rest of 2026. Group A gets paid on November 6, November 20, December 4 and December 18. Group B gets paid on October 30, November 13, November 27 and around December 24.

Which months have three paychecks in 2026?

Group A gets three paychecks in January (2, 16 and 30) and July (3, 17 and 31). Group B gets three in May (1, 15 and 29) and October (2, 16 and 30). Every other month has two paydays for both groups.

A three-paycheck month is the best time to get ahead. Most people budget rent and bills around two checks a month, so the third one is free money for savings, a credit card balance or an emergency fund. If you’re in Group B, your next one is coming up on October 30.

How do you budget around a biweekly Walgreens paycheck?

The simplest system is to split your monthly bills between the first and second paycheck of each month. Rent due on the 1st comes out of the last check of the previous month. Smaller bills, like a $65 phone plan or a $120 car insurance payment, come out of the mid-month check.

Biweekly pay gives you 26 checks, not 24, and that gap is where people get tripped up. If you budget as if you’re paid twice a month, you end up with two extra checks a year that aren’t spoken for. Decide now where those two checks go, before they disappear into everyday spending.

Watch the long gaps too. Group B goes from May 29 to June 12 and then June 26, so June rent comes from a check that landed in May. Write the Friday dates on the same calendar where you keep your bill due dates.

How do you know which pay group you’re in?

Look at the date on your most recent pay stub. If your last check came on Friday, October 23, 2026, you’re on the Group A dates. If it came on October 16, you’re in Group B and your next payday is October 30.

Once you know one payday, you know them all. Just add 14 days each time. A new hire who hasn’t been paid yet can ask the store manager which Friday the first check will land on.

Is there a Walgreens pay schedule 2026 PDF?

Walgreens doesn’t offer a public PDF of its 2026 pay schedule. The PDFs that pop up in search results are usually state government or generic payroll calendars, like Pennsylvania’s 2026 state payroll file, and they have nothing to do with Walgreens.

You can make your own in about ten seconds. Press Ctrl+P (or Cmd+P on a Mac) on this page and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. Then keep it on your phone next to your work schedule.

When does the Walgreens pay period start and end?

A Walgreens pay period is 14 days long. Reports don’t agree on which weekdays it starts and ends, though. Some workers, including distribution center staff, report Thursday through Wednesday, while an older payroll calendar site says Saturday through the second Friday.

Our guess is that both are right for different groups of workers. Distribution centers and stores don’t always run identical payroll setups. The only answer that counts for you is the pay period start and end dates printed near the top of your own stub.

How long after the pay period ends do you get paid?

Walgreens reportedly pays about one week after the pay period closes. That gap gives payroll time to collect hours, approve timecards and process deductions. So a check that arrives on a Friday covers work that ended roughly 7 to 9 days earlier.

Here’s an example using the Thursday-to-Wednesday setup. If a pay period runs from Thursday, October 1, to Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the check for those hours would arrive on Friday, October 23. Hours you work from October 15 onward go on the next check.

Your hours come from the timekeeping system your store uses to clock in and out, which many workers know as Kronos. If you forget to punch in or out, get your manager to fix it before the period closes. Corrections made after the cutoff usually show up a check later.

What happens when a Walgreens payday falls on a holiday?

When payday lands on a bank holiday, employers usually send the deposit on the business day before. Walgreens is reported to follow that pattern too. In 2026, two paydays fall on days when the Federal Reserve’s payment system is closed.

Payday Holiday Pay group Likely deposit date
Friday, June 19, 2026 Juneteenth Group A Thursday, June 18
Friday, July 3, 2026 Independence Day (observed by many employers) Group A Friday, July 3 (banks open)
Friday, December 25, 2026 Christmas Day Group B Thursday, December 24
Friday, January 1, 2027 New Year’s Day Group A Thursday, December 31, 2026

July 3 confuses a lot of people. July 4, 2026, is a Saturday, so many offices take Friday off. But the Federal Reserve’s holiday schedule says its banks stay open on the Friday before a Saturday holiday, so direct deposits should still post that day.

Thanksgiving doesn’t cause trouble this year. It falls on Thursday, November 26, and Group B’s payday is the next day, November 27. Banks are open that Friday, so the deposit should arrive on time.

Does working on a holiday change your Walgreens paycheck?

Walgreens stores stay open on most holidays, and many 24-hour locations open on Christmas Day with shorter pharmacy hours. Whether you earn extra for working a holiday depends on your role and your state, and Walgreens doesn’t post its holiday pay policy publicly. We couldn’t confirm the current rules.

If you worked a holiday shift, check the stub for a separate holiday line. If you expected premium pay and it isn’t there, ask your manager which holidays qualify at your store. Any holiday pay lands on the regular check for that pay period, not on a separate day.

How do you check your Walgreens pay stub online?

Walgreens workers see pay stubs, tax forms and direct deposit details in People Central. You reach it through the WBA Worldwide employee portal at wbaworldwide.wba.com. People Central runs on SAP SuccessFactors, which is why the screens may look like other company HR sites you’ve used.

  1. Go to wbaworldwide.wba.com on a computer or phone browser.
  2. Sign in with your OneID username and password.
  3. Open People Central from the portal.
  4. Find the pay or payroll section and select your most recent pay statement.
  5. Check the pay period dates, hours, gross pay, deductions and net pay.

Your pay stub is also where you check the start and end dates of each pay period. If something looks off, like missing overtime or a wrong rate, screenshot the stub before you talk to your manager. It makes the conversation a lot faster.

If you can’t sign in, the usual problem is an expired OneID password. Your store manager or the IT help line can reset it. Don’t share your OneID with coworkers, since the same login opens your tax forms and bank details.

What should you look for on each pay stub?

Most pay problems are easy to catch if you spend two minutes on each stub. These are the mistakes workers report most often, and each one is fixable if you catch it within a pay period or two.

  • Your new rate isn’t showing. A raise often starts on the first full pay period after it’s approved, so one check at the old rate can be normal. Two checks at the old rate is not.
  • Overtime is missing. Any week over 40 hours should show overtime at 1.5 times your rate. Biweekly checks hide this, because 85 hours could be 45 and 40, or 42.5 and 42.5.
  • A missed punch cut your hours. Compare the hours on the stub with your own schedule or the hours in your timekeeping app.
  • The state tax is wrong. If you moved states or transferred to a store across a state line, make sure the new state shows up.
  • A benefit deduction looks doubled. This sometimes happens in the first check after open enrollment.

Bring the stub and your own notes to your store manager. Payroll fixes for hourly workers usually land on the next regular payday as an adjustment line.

How can former employees get pay stubs and a W-2?

Former employees usually lose People Central access after they leave. Walgreens has to mail or post your 2026 W-2 by January 31, 2027, which is the federal deadline. Make sure HR has your current mailing address before you go.

Former workers often share 1-800-825-5467 and askhr@walgreens.com as Walgreens HR contacts. We couldn’t confirm either one on an official Walgreens page, so treat them as a starting point and double-check before you send personal details.

Do all Walgreens employees follow the same pay schedule?

Most do. Hourly store workers, pharmacy technicians and distribution center staff are all reported to be on the same biweekly cycle. The details that change by role are the pay period weekdays and how overtime is handled.

Store team members and shift leads

Store team members, cashiers, beauty consultants and shift leads are hourly and paid every two weeks. Overtime over 40 hours a week is paid at 1.5 times your rate under federal law, and some states like California also count daily overtime.

Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

Pharmacy technicians are hourly and follow the same biweekly Friday schedule as store staff. Pharmacists may be hourly or salaried depending on their role and state. We couldn’t confirm a separate pay schedule for pharmacists, so check your offer letter.

Distribution center workers

One Walgreens distribution center worker reports they’re paid every two weeks, with pay periods running Thursday to Wednesday. Shift premiums for nights or weekends, if your center offers them, show up as a separate line on the stub.

Salaried store managers

Store managers are usually salaried. One store manager reports they’re also paid every two weeks, so salaried staff get 26 equal checks a year on the same Friday pattern.

When will you get your first, final and bonus paychecks?

These three checks don’t always follow the normal rhythm, so they cause the most questions. Here’s how each one usually works.

When will I get my first Walgreens paycheck?

Your first Walgreens paycheck usually arrives two to three weeks after your start date. It depends on where your first day falls in the pay period and on the roughly one-week gap before payday. Starting right after a period closes means a longer wait.

Say you start on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the beginning of a pay period. That period would end October 28, and your first check would come around Friday, November 6. Ask your manager whether your first check will be a direct deposit or a paper check, since new direct deposit setups can take one cycle.

When is my final paycheck after leaving Walgreens?

Your state’s law decides when your final Walgreens paycheck is due, not company policy. In California, a fired worker must be paid right away, and someone who quits without notice gets paid within 72 hours. In Texas, it’s six days if you’re let go and the next regular payday if you quit.

Many states, like Illinois and Florida, simply allow the final check on the next regular payday. If you’re leaving, write down your last day and your pay group so you know which Friday to watch for. Unused PTO payout rules also vary by state.

When does Walgreens pay bonuses?

We couldn’t confirm a public bonus calendar for Walgreens. Walgreens’ fiscal year 2026 runs from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, so annual bonus plans for managers and pharmacists are likely tied to that year. Hourly store workers don’t usually get a set annual bonus.

If you’re on a bonus plan, your offer letter or People Central should list the payout timing. Bonuses are typically added to a regular Friday payday, so they show up as an extra line on a normal stub.

What should you do if your Walgreens paycheck is late?

Most late Walgreens paychecks turn out to be a bank delay, a wrong pay group date, or a direct deposit change that hasn’t kicked in. Work through these steps in order before you assume payroll made a mistake.

  1. Confirm your pay group date in the table above. Many “late” checks are really next week’s check.
  2. Check your bank app for a pending deposit. Some banks hold payroll until 9 a.m.
  3. Open People Central and look at the pay stub. If a stub exists for that date, payroll ran.
  4. Check the direct deposit account on file. A new account can take one full pay cycle to switch over.
  5. Talk to your store manager, then HR, if there’s no stub at all.

We’d skip high-fee paycheck advance apps while you wait. A $10 to $15 fee on a $100 advance is a very expensive loan. We couldn’t confirm that Walgreens offers its own early wage access program, so ask HR before you sign up for anything that claims to be connected to your job.

How much does Walgreens pay per hour?

Walgreens pay depends on the role and the state. One Walgreens job posting on its pay transparency page lists a range of $15 to $24 an hour. Pharmacy technicians and shift leads tend to sit near the top of store pay, while new cashiers start near the bottom.

Your hourly rate times your hours decides each biweekly check. At $15 an hour and 60 hours over two weeks, you’d earn $900 gross. At $22 an hour and 80 hours, that jumps to $1,760 before deductions.

Over a full year, the numbers add up fast. A full-time worker at $17 an hour earns about $35,360 across 26 checks, based on 2,080 hours. A part-timer at 25 hours a week and the same rate earns about $22,100.

How much of your Walgreens paycheck do you actually take home?

Your net pay is your gross pay minus taxes and benefits. Social Security and Medicare alone take 7.65% of every check. On a $1,360 gross paycheck, that’s about $104 before federal or state income tax is counted.

Federal income tax depends on the W-4 you filled out when you were hired. Most states also take income tax, but nine states, including Texas, Florida and Tennessee, have no state tax on wages. That’s why two workers with the same rate in different states see different net pay.

Benefits come out next. Medical, dental and vision premiums, plus any 401(k) savings you chose, are taken from each of the 26 checks. If your take-home suddenly drops by a set amount, check whether a new benefit started that pay period.

Frequently asked questions

Does Walgreens pay on Thursday or Friday?

Walgreens payday is Friday. Some workers see the money Thursday night because their bank posts direct deposits early, but the official payday is Friday.

When is the last Walgreens payday of 2026?

Group A’s last scheduled 2026 payday is Friday, December 18. Group B’s is Friday, December 25, which will probably be paid on Thursday, December 24, because of Christmas.

Can I change my direct deposit account at Walgreens?

Yes. You update direct deposit in People Central. Make the change at least one full pay period before you need it, and keep your old account open until the first deposit hits the new one.

Did the pay schedule change after Walgreens went private?

Not that we can find. Sycamore Partners finished buying Walgreens in August 2025, and we haven’t seen any announced change to the biweekly schedule since then.

Why do Reddit threads show different Walgreens pay dates?

Walgreens reportedly runs two pay groups on alternating Fridays, so two coworkers can honestly report payday a week apart. Older threads from 2023 and 2024 also show dates that no longer apply.

Does Walgreens pay overtime on a separate check?

No. Overtime is added to your regular biweekly paycheck for the pay period when you worked it. It shows as its own line on your pay stub.

Before you plan around these dates

Treat this calendar as a planning tool, and check your People Central stub before you set autopay for rent or a car payment. If you also work a second job, our Walmart payday schedule, Target payday schedule and Costco payday schedule guides show how their pay dates line up with yours.

This site isn’t connected to Walgreens. We’ll update the dates if Walgreens announces a change.
